I have been drawing and painting ever since I could remember. Influenced by the Masters, especially the Impressionists, I also grew up admiring the esteemed community of Saskatchewan artists. Although formally trained as a civil engineer, my artistic training has consisted of a potpourri of workshops, undergraduate art courses and independent learning. I live and work in Saskatoon but often travel the province for inspiration.
Any forest scene warms my heart. I try to capture the impression of the landscape's mystique with playfulness, whether en plain air or in the studio. I enjoy painting in finer detail where necessary but generally try to paint with broad strokes and joyful marks. Not limited to forests, I also paint whatever else intrigues me, and allows me to grow as an artist, including lively skies, stills, portraits and abstracts.
